Autism And Behaviour That Challenges: A Course For Parents And Carers (March 18th Start Date)
A Course Designed To Empower Autism Parents With The Knowledge Needed To Make Life Less Challenging
A six week course starting on the 18th of March which focuses on arming parents with the knowledge they need to prevent meltdowns before they happen. The course has a strong emphasis on practical strategies to enable parents to create an environment that works whilst teaching them how to teach the building blocks of regulating their own emotions to their child.
Registration on the course also includes membership of a closed Facebook group for the duration of the course
Week One
Looking at the reasons behaviour occurs and how to identify triggers. A toolkit of resources to help you to identify these are also included.
Week Two
Strategies for building better relationships with schools, and what to do when those relationships break down.
Week Three
Practical ways to reduce the impact of triggers and create a physical and emotional space that works for children and young people with autism.
Week Four
A discussion around which children would benefit from PDA Strategies and ways to reduce demands without lowering expectations
Week Five
Looking at our responses to meltdowns as parents, in addition to how to use both rewards and consequences to make a difference in our everyday lives.
Week Six
Strategies for teaching self regulation skills to children and young people.
